MIYAGI (TR) – Police have arrested a 20-year-old university student for allegedly trespassing into the women’s section of a public bathhouse in Sendai City, reports TBS News (May 19).
The unnamed suspect, a resident of the town of Shibata, is accused of entering the women’s bath at a facility in Sendai’s Taihaku Ward between 11:45 p.m. on Monday and 12:50 a.m. on the following day.
The incident came to light at approximately 12:20 a.m. when a concerned caller alerted authorities, reporting that “a person with a male physique is in the women’s bath.”
Responding officers rushed to the facility and caught the suspect red-handed as he emerged from the women’s changing room, immediately placing him under arrest for unlawful entry.
During police questioning, the student admitted to the act but offered a bizarre explanation for his presence in the restricted area. “I did enter the women’s bath, but I don’t know why I went in,” he told investigators.
Police are continuing to investigate the detailed circumstances surrounding the incident.
