Kanagawa teacher suspected of sex with female students over 2-year period

KANAGAWA (TR) – The Kanagawa Prefectural Board of Education dismissed a male teacher in his 30s from a prefectural high school in Kawasaki City on Thursday for engaging in sexual acts with two female students in the club he advised, reports the Tokyo Shimbun (May 14).

According to the board of eduction, the teacher repeatedly exchanged private messages with the two students via the text messaging function on his mobile phone from December 2023 to March of this year.

Also during that period, he engaged in sexual acts with them, sometimes once a week, in his car or at hotels within the prefecture.

The teacher reportedly told the board of education during questioning, “As the club advisor, I started to care about the students, and I felt we gradually grew closer. I’m sorry for hurting the students.”

In March, the teacher reported the incident to the vice-principal after receiving information that there was a risk of the matter being discovered.

The students have reportedly filed a complaint with Kanagawa Prefectural Police. The board of education has not released the teacher’s name due to concerns that it could lead to the identification of the students.
