TOCHIGI (TR) – Police in Ashikaga City this arrested arrested a Bangladeshi national over the murder of his mother after one week on the run, reports Nippon News Network (May 12).
Unemployed Ranjan Abir Roy, 28, is accused of assaulting and killing his mother, Kalpana Rani Roy, at her residence on May 3.
According to police, the victim was subjected to a severe beating that left her with broken ribs, as well as slash wounds believed to have been inflicted by a bladed weapon.
Upon questioning, the suspect denied the murder allegations, telling investigators, “I have no memory of it, so I don’t know.”

On the day of the fatal assault, the suspect reportedly phoned his older brother, who lived with their mother, and told him, “Mother has collapsed in the bathroom.” The suspect then fled the residence and his whereabouts remained unknown for a week.
His time on the run ended Sunday when police officers spotted him wandering near the crime scene and took him into custody.
Authorities have established a special investigative task force to uncover the full details surrounding the killing.
