TOKYO (TR) — Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 21-year-old university student for allegedly trespassing onto residential property in Setagaya Ward to secretly film a woman taking a bath, reports Nippon News Network (May 12).
Kai Sato, a senior at Tokyo Keizai University, is accused of trespassing onto the premises of a private residence in August 2025 and using his smartphone to take tosatsu (voyeur) footage of the woman, aged woman in her 20s, while she was bathing.
Upon questioning, Sato admitted to the allegations, citing his resentment toward the opposite sex.
“I had frustrations toward women, and I did it to satisfy my sexual desires and relieve stress,” Sato told investigators. He further stated, “I didn’t know what I was capturing at the time, but when I checked later and saw she was recorded, I felt a sense of accomplishment.”

According to police, Sato was out for a walk when he heard the sound of a running shower. He allegedly slipped through a narrow gap between houses to access the property and pointed his smartphone camera at the bathroom window to capture the footage.
The crime came to light after police analyzed Sato’s confiscated smartphone. He had already been arrested and indicted in a separate case for secretly filming another bathing woman.
