OSAKA (TR) – Police in Osaka City have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and murder after the body of a young woman was discovered in a hotel room in the Minami entertainment district, reports TBS News (May 10).
Yusei Mori, a part-time worker from Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, is accused of killing the woman and stealing her belongings, including her My Number identification card, at a hotel in the Namba area of Chuo Ward two nights ago.
During police questioning, Mori partially denied the charges against him. While he admitted to the physical act, telling investigators, “I strangled the woman to death,” he disputed the motives of robbery and murder.
“I did not forcefully take her money or goods, and I had no intention of killing her,” Mori claimed.
The victim is believed to be 23 years old. Police noted visible bruising around her neck and are continuing their investigation to formally identify her and determine the exact cause of death.
