TOKYO (TR) – Celebrating her 15th anniversary in show business, actress and model Asuka Kishi is returning to her roots, releasing her first photobook in five years and showcasing a deeply glamorous, mature sex appeal.
“In this 15th year since my debut, I want to take on various challenges and make it a year to convey my gratitude to the fans!” the 35-year-old Kishi tells the site Smart Flash (May 2) regarding the milestone.
“Trajectory” hits store shelves on May 22. Shot on location in Da Nang, Vietnam — a first-time visit for the star — the new release captures her sultry, adult allure against a tropical backdrop. For Kishi, the project is a poignant look back at where she started.
The native of Osaka Prefecture debuted as a gravure idol in 2012.
“Gravure is my starting point,” Kishi reflected. “At the time of my debut, it was an unknown world and I was full of anxiety. I lacked confidence, and looking back now, it was nothing but photos of me glaring at the camera.”
Over time, however, she learned to shed her insecurities. “Through the daily shoots, I gradually became able to show my true self. That experience connected to acting and other jobs, and I feel it has greatly broadened my horizons. I’ll be happy if you can feel even a little of the growth I’ve achieved over these 15 years in this new work.”
That growth has paid off. Kishi’s career has seamlessly expanded into acting, with a steady stream of appearances in television dramas and films. Yet, her on-screen persona has taken a surprisingly wicked turn.
“Thankfully, I’ve had many opportunities to play villain roles lately,” she added with a laugh. “But occasionally, I’d like to play a good person, too.”
