Teenage girl takes fatal plunge in front of Yamanote Line train in apparent suicide

TOKYO (TR) – A female believed to be in her teens died after being struck by a train in Shibuya Ward on Saturday in an apparent suicide, police said, reports Kyodo News (May 2).

At approximately 8:35 p.m., the young woman was hit by a passenger train on the busy Yamanote Line at JR Shibuya Station. She suffered significant injuries in the collision and was later confirmed dead.

According to the Shibuya Police Station, eyewitnesses reported seeing the victim intentionally jump from the platform onto the tracks as the train approached. Investigators are currently looking into the precise details surrounding the incident.
