YOKOHAMA (TR) — Police are searching for an armed man who attempted to rob a pachinko prize exchange booth in Yokohama City’s Totsuka Ward on Tuesday afternoon, only to flee empty-handed, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 30).
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the suspect approached the exchange booth located near JR Totsuka Station. He brandished what appeared to be a handgun at the 73-year-old male clerk and demanded, “Give me the money.”
According to police, the robbery attempt was thwarted when the elderly clerk boldly refused to comply. After the clerk warned, “I’m going to call the police,” the suspect abandoned the heist and walked away without taking any cash.
The clerk was uninjured in the incident.
The suspect is described as wearing a face mask, a dark-colored hat and a gray hoodie. He was last seen fleeing the scene on foot in the opposite direction of Totsuka Station.
Police are currently tracking his whereabouts.
