Shizuoka boy throws homemade spear at cop

SHIZUOKA (TR) – Shizuoka Prefectural Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly throwing a homemade spear at a police officer at his home in Izunokuni City on Tuesday, reports Daiichi TV (Apr. 15).

The boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and obstruction of official duties.

While the boy has admitted to throwing the spear during police questioning, he has stated that he “did not intend to kill.”

At around 6:30 p.m., the boy is suspected of throwing a knife attached to the end of a pole at the head of the 48-year-old male police officer who had rushed to the home.

The police officer was not injured. Meanwhile, the boy was apprehended on the spot.

Prior to the incident, the boy’s mother, who lives with him, called police to report that he was acting violently due to a family dispute.

Three police officers then entered the house. The boy, who had come down the stairs, threw the spear-like object at the officers from a distance of approximately 3 meters.
