Tokyo sex shop operator arrested for prostituting Vietnamese women on tourist visas

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly employing Vietnamese women visiting Japan on tourist visas to conduct prostitution from a rented room, reports TBS News (Apr. 2).

Hideyasu Nagase is the 42-year-old operator of “delivery health” sex business Pajama de Ojama. Last December, he and two accomplices allegedly utilized the rented room in Edogawa Ward to facilitate prostitution for Vietnamese female employees in their 20s.

During police questioning on suspicion of violating the Anti-Prostitution Law, all three suspects admitted to the allegations.

“Girls from Vietnam and China come to Japan to earn money by selling their bodies,” one of the suspects told investigators.

Police believe the illicit operation systematically targeted foreign women entering the country on short-term stay visas, raking in approximately 46 million yen in sales over a period of 16 months starting in 2024.

This is not Nagase’s first run-in with the law regarding the exploitation of foreign nationals. According to investigators, he was previously arrested and indicted for violating the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act after he was caught illegally employing Thai women on short-term visas at a sex shop in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture.
