Man in Osaka accused of using stun gun in robbery of Chinese national

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly using a stun gun on a Chinese national on a street in Osaka City last month, reports .

On February 25, Yoshimitsu Suga, of no known occupation, allegedly used a stun gun to rob the 37-year-old male Chinese national of 5 million yen in cash and other items in Sumiyoshi Ward.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of robbery and assault, Suga said, “I cannot say anything.”

A vehicle used in the crime was seen in security camera footage. Police later located and seized the vehicle registered in Suga’s name in Hyogo Prefecture. The suspect turned himself in to a police station on March 21.

Suga is believed to have one been one of the perpetrators in the case. Two 18-year-old men have also been arrested in connection with this incident.

Police believe the crime may have been committed by a (tokuryu) operation, which is an anonymous criminal group whose members communicate via smartphone apps.
