Man arrested after stabbing at bar near JR Toyama Station leaves woman injured

TOYAMA (TR) – Toyama Prefectural Police after a 69-year-old man after a stabbing at a bar in an entertainment district in Toyama City on Friday left one woman injured, reports the Hokkoku Shimbun (Mar. 6).

At around 4:00 p.m., police received a report informing them that the woman, aged in her 40s, had been stabbed in the bar in an entertainment district in Shintomicho near the South Exit of Toyama Station.

The woman was found bleeding from her abdomen but was conscious. Further details are unknown.

Police later apprehended the man on suspicion of attempted murder. He stands accused of repeatedly stabbing the woman in the abdomen and other areas of her body with a sashimi knife.

However, he was released due to injuries he sustained to his abdomen and transported to a hospital in the city.

According to the Toyama Chuo Police Station, the suspect and the woman are believed to be acquaintances.

Police will wait until the suspect recovers before questioning him to determine the details of the incident.
