FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a 61-year-old man following a stabbing incident in Fukuoka City that left three men and women injured, reports TBS News (Feb. 20).
At around 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, a witness made a call from the Fukuoka City Public Library in Sawara Ward. “People are being stabbed,” the caller said.
Police and ambulances arrived and found two male and female visitors to the library and a male security guard with injuries on the first floor.
The male visitor had been stabbed in the abdomen. His injuries are considered serious. Meanwhile, the other two victims suffered wounds to their hands and necks. All conditions of all three are non-life-threatening, police said.
According to police, the three had been attacked by Tatsuo Yoshii. Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder regarding the stabbing of the woman, Yoshii admitted to the allegations. He was in possession of a kitchen knife upon his apprehension.
Yoshii did not know the three people before the incident, police said.
