TOKYO (TR) – The body of a man missing some of his organs was found yesterday on a forest road in the town of Okutama, police said, reports TBS News (Dec. 31).
It is believed that he had been attacked by an animal, reports TBS News (Dec. 31).
Just before 2:00 p.m., a male hiker found the man’s body on the Ogawadani Forest Road in Nippara. The hiker called police to report that the man seemed to have been eaten by an animal.
According to police, the body suffered severe wounds to the abdomen and other areas, and some organs were missing. As well, his skull was visible.
The man was lightly dressed, with some of his clothing torn away. No personal belongings that could identify him have been found.
In addition to working to identify the man, police are investigating the circumstances that led to his death.
The scene of the incident was on a forest road several kilometers from the tourist attraction Nippara Limestone Caves.
