Tokyo cop dismissed for leaking information to scouting group Natural

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday dismissed a police inspector from its Organized Crime Control Division for leaking investigative information to Japan’s largest adult entertainment scouting group, reports TBS News (Dec. 23).

Between April and July of this year, detective Daisuke Jimbo, 43, allegedly leaked several investigative camera images to the scouting group Natural.

Also on Tuesday, Tokyo police issued disciplinary warnings to Jimbo’s direct superior at the time and to 10 other officers, including section chiefs and supervisors.

According to police, Jimbo was involved in investigations into cases involving Natural from 2023 until March of this year. Until April of last year, he had reported his contacts with Natural to his superiors, but no further reports were made until his arrest in November.

A representative of the Tokyo police said, “At a time when police forces across the country are working together to combat anonymous mobile crime groups [tokuryu], this was an unacceptable act and we have taken strict disciplinary action against him.”

As measures to prevent recurrence, the department will implement systematic management of information gathering and thoroughly check the qualifications of investigators in charge in advance, with senior officials deciding on system access authority on a case-by-case basis.

During the investigation, police found 9 million yen in cash during a search of Jimbo’s home in August. Police are now investigating the possibility that he may have received the money from Natural in return for investigative information.
