Manhunt underway after woman stabbed in Akasaka

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan police launched a manhunt after a woman was stabbed in the basement of a multi-tenant building in Minato Ward, reports TBS News (Nov. 15).

At around 10:30 a.m., police received an emergency call came from the basement of a building in Akasaka. “[A woman] was stabbed by a man she does not know,” the caller said.

According to police, the victim is a 47-year-old woman who suffered injuries to her stomach and hands. Upon transport to a hospital, she was conscious and is not in any danger of dying.

After the incident, the male perpetrator, who was wearing a black hat, then fled to an upper floor.

The incident occurred in a busy entertainment district full of restaurants and bars near Akasaka-Mitsuke Station on the Tokyo Metro.

Police are now seeking the whereabouts of the man.
