SAITAMA (TR) – Prosecutors have not prosecuted a 41-year-old man following his arrest for allegedly committing indecent acts on a female middle school student on a street in Kawaguchi City, reports the Saitama Shimbun (Nov. 11).
At around 8:00 a.m. on October 16, the the man, of no known occupation, allegedly committed indecent acts on the girl from behind, including hugging and groping, as she walked on the street.
The girl suffered unspecified injuries that took 10 days to heal, police said previously.
Five days later, the Bunan Police Station accused the man of indecent assault without consent resulting in injury. “I don’t remember very well. I wanted to touch the girl,” he said in admitting to the allegations.
However, on November 10, the Saitama District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to indict the man. The reason for the decision was not disclosed.
As the incident unfolded, a woman in her 70s who was nearby called police. Police officers examined security camera footage from near the crime scene. They later discovered a man resembling the suspect. After voluntary questioning, he admitted to the crime.
