TOKYO (TR) – A police officer found collapsed in a police box in Adachi Ward on Friday was later confirmed dead. Tokyo Metropolitan Police believe he took his life with a handgun, reports NHK (Nov. 8).
At just before 7:00 a.m., a visiting police officer found the 32-year-old male sergeant lying on the ground bleeding from his head at the Sekihara 3-chome koban police box of the Nishiarai Police Station.
The sergeant was later confirmed dead at the scene. A handgun was found nearby, police said.
The sergeant was working alone at the police box at the time. Based on the circumstances at the scene, police believe that he committed suicide with the handgun.
