AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the death of a woman after she had undergone a plastic surgery treatment at a clinic in Nagoya, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Feb. 28).

At around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, a male employee at the Tokai Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, located in Nakamura Ward, called for an ambulance for “a female patient in serious condition.” The woman, a 32-year-old company employee living in Chikusa Ward, was confirmed dead at a nearby hospital about one hour later.

According to police, the surgery, which was conducted by a male doctor and nurse, began at 7:30 p.m. The woman received a local anesthetic before her condition worsened.

Police are now questioning personnel at the clinic regarding medical procedures. The results of an autopsy will be used to determine the cause of death.

When reached for comment, a representative of the clinic said, “Since the person is charge is not present, there is nothing to say.”

The Tokai Cosmetic Surgery Clinic opened in January of last year. Until now, it has not received any warnings about its practices from government officials.
