SHIGA (TR) – Shiga Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of two bodies inside a vehicle in front of a discount department store in Kusatsu City, reports Nippon News Network (June 14).

At approximately 2:00 p.m., an employee at the Kusatsu outlet of the Don Quijote chain telephoned emergency services to report that a person was “collapsed and bleeding” inside the vehicle, which was parked in the lot of the store.

Emergency personnel and police arriving at the scene found two bodies, a male and female, both believed to be in their 20s, inside the vehicle. Both persons were confirmed dead at the scene.

The body of the male, who was lying in the driver’s seat, had a single head wound consistent with a stabbing. The body of the woman was in the passenger’s seat and had no external injuries.

Police are working to confirm the identities of both persons. The case is being treated as either the result of foul play or suicide.
