CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation in what is being considered an especially brutal stabbing death of a 41-year-old woman in Chiba City, reports Nippon News Network (April 6).

In providing new information on the case, police said on Wednesday that the perpetrator who killed Rina Kayano, a contract employee, had possessed a clear intent to kill, adding that she was repeatedly stabbed her in the abdomen.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Monday, the body of Kayano was found with multiple stab wounds lying atop a futon in a room of the residence, located in Inage Ward, by her father. Officers arriving at the apartment later confirmed her dead at the scene.

Kayano’s father visited the apartment after a person from his daughter’s office called to inform him that she did not arrive at work that day.

Money was found inside Kayano’s purse, and no valuables were taken from the apartment, police said.

As a part of the investigation, police are now speaking with friends and acquaintances of Kayano to determine whether she had been experiencing problems of any kind.
