TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating a mugging in the Ginza entertainment district of Chuo Ward in which a man was robbed of 100,000 yen, reports the Sankei Shimbun (April 2).

At approximately 9:05 p.m. on Friday, a male customer of a restaurant exited the business onto a street with two women when he was threatened by a man wielding a knife. After he stumbled and fell to the ground, the assailant stole his bag containing approximately 100,000 yen in cash.

The perpetrator, who is described as having worn dark clothing, then fled the scene.

According to officers from the Tsukiji Police Station, the victim, a company employee aged in his 50s, was not injured.

Police are now examining security camera footage taken near the crime scene as a part of the investigation, according to TV Asahi (April 2).
