TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 28-year-old male company employee after he allegedly posed as a detective in picking up an underage prostitute, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Feb. 22).

In January of last year, Kazutoshi Matsushita met the girl, at the time 17 years of age, for an illicit encounter at a love hotel in the Kabukicho red-light district.

Prior to the session, the suspect falsely revealed to her that he was an investigator with the Shinjuku Police Station and that he did not intend to pay.

Matsushita, who has been charged with violating child welfare laws, admits to the allegations. “Since it is a waste of money, I thought if I could get her to believe I was a police officer I could economize.”

In the fall of 2014, Matsushita first utilized the girl’s services, for which she charges 50,000 yen, after meeting her via a deai-kei dating application.

In carrying out the ruse in January, Matsushita presented a fake notepad and badge he had purchased online. The notepad had blank spaces for the names of suspects and the inclusion of their photographs. The suspect then told her that he would overlook her work in enjo kosai, or compensated dating, in exchange for a free session.
