NAGOYA (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to be a murder-suicide after the discovery of two bodies inside an apartment in Naka Ward, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Feb. 11).

On Friday evening, police found the body of Tomoka Matsuyama, 27, an employee at a restaurant, at the apartment, located in the Sakae entertainment area. Her neck had markings consistent with strangulation.

Police also found the body of Mastuyama’s boyfriend on the balcony. The man, aged in his 20s or 30s, had hanged himself. He worked at the same restaurant.

Police suspect that Matsuyama’s boyfriend killed her before taking his own life. He lived in the apartment.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., police received a phone call from a woman who said that one of her friends had committed suicide. The woman, who is also an employee at the restaurant, visited the apartment after the couple did not appear for work that day, according to Nippon News Network (Feb. 12).
