TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a hostess for participation in a fraud ring, reports TBS News (Aug. 12).

In January, Marina Nakamura, 27, is alleged to have introduced a male to the ring for the receiving of the cash in the swindling of 6.7 million yen from a 60-year-old woman in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture.

Koji Okawa, 30, the leader of the ring, posed as the son of the woman on the telephone and indicated that he had encountered trouble due to the embezzlement of his company’s funds.

Nakamura, who has been charged with fraud, denies the allegations. Okawa was also taken into custody.

In addition to being a nightclub hostess, Nakamura works as a club DJ and model for fashion magazines under the name Maridanuki.

Since Nakamura was in possession of 0.7 grams of stimulant drugs at the time of her arrest, she also faces drug charges, according to Fuji News Network (Aug. 12).
