MIYAGI (TR) – Miyagi Prefectural Police last week re-arrested a female university student suspected in the drugging and robbery of multiple men she had met on dating sites, reports Sports Hochi (Aug. 5).

On the evening of June 20, Midori Ohama, a 23-year-old student at Tohoku Pharmaceutical University, is alleged to have given a 40-year-old male chocolate laced with sleeping powder at an izakaya restaurant in Sendai’s Miyagino Ward. When the victim passed out after consuming the gift, the suspect stole 150,000 yen in cash and two credit cards from the his wallet.

Ohama then used the credit cards to purchase clothes valued at 80,000 yen.

“Since I robbed several men, I don’t recall (if I took money from this particular guy),” the suspect is quoted by police.

Ohama met her victims on deai-kei matchmaking sites. Upon her initial meeting with a victim, she would present him with chocolate that was “handmade.”

On July 16, police arrested Ohama for robbing a 54-year-old man of 40,000 yen and two credit cards. Since June, Ohama has been arrested three times.

“I did it for the money,” she told police, according to the Sankei Shimbun (July 16), “and I also wanted to punish dirty old men.”

On Wednesday, Ohama was indicted for one of the crimes at the Sendai District Court.
