Tweet leads to arrest of ‘Mr. Marijuana’ in Osaka

OSAKA (TR) – On Monday, prosecutors at the Osaka District Court filed drug charges against a 39-year-old male whose who was arrested after he showed support for marijuana use on the Internet, reports the Sankei Shimbun (April 27).

In a video posted on Twitter, Daisaku Sato, who described himself as “Mr. Marijuana,” was shown smoking the drug and displaying a number of marijuana plants in his apartment. “I will be a human sacrifice in the lifting of the marijuana ban,” he said.

On March 9, investigators from the Kinki Narcotics Control Department searched the home of Sato and discovered 142 marijuana plants.

Sato was subsequently charged with violating the Cannabis Control Law for cultivation of the drug and possession of one kilogram in plant form and one gram in liquid form. He was also charged with possessing stimulant drugs. The result of a urine analysis for stimulant drugs was positive, according to Jiji Press (April 27).
