TOKYO (TR) – A man clad only in women’s underwear stole a handbag from a 26-year-old female riding a bicycle in Osaka, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Aug. 16).
At approximately 3 a.m. on Friday morning, a man riding a black motorbike grabbed a handbag containing 9,000 yen from the bicycle basket of a woman as she returned to her home in Hirano Ward. According to the victim, the thief was wearing only a pink brassiere.
This is the first time that a crime of this nature has been reported, police said.
The perpetrator, estimated to be between the ages of 30 and 35, is described as being between solidly built and having shortly cropped brown hair.
In recent months, incidents of purse snatching have been on the decline in Osaka due to an increase in the implementation of prevention measures on the part of the police.
