TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are searching for a man accused of groping a woman who fled a train station in Itabashi Ward by jumping on railway tracks, the seventh such case since March, reports Nippon News Network (Apr. 25).

At around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the man allegedly fondled the buttocks of the woman, aged in her 20s, on the JR Saikyo Line between Akabane and Itabashi stations. The victim subsequently seized the man’s hand and disembarked with him at Itabashi Station, Tokyo Metropolitan Police said.

Another man tried to suppress the suspect, but he slipped off his coat and jumped off the station platform onto the train tracks before hopping a fence on the other side.

Police are hunting for the suspect, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, who was last seen wearing dark clothing, on suspicion of violating Tokyo’s public nuisance law.

Since the middle of March, at least six similar incidents have taken place in the metropolis, including at Ochanomizu and Ikebukuro stations. No persons have yet been arrested in the cases.
