Feisty female commuter likes getting rubbed the right way

May 29, 2009

Shukan Bunshun June 4Takeshobo’s June issue of Ai no Taiken Special Deluxe is out, and, as Shukan Bunshun (June 4) demonstrates in its regular weekly page, this lurid ladies’ magazine is chock-full of fanciful fabrications from feisty females.

Here’s a short item from the pseudonymous contributor who goes by the handle “Yabamotesen chichi mawari.” This wonderfully creative nom de plume is a play on the words “Yamanotesen uchi mawari,” which refers to the inside (i.e. counterclockwise running) track of Tokyo’s Yamanote loop line. In this tongue-in-cheek rendering, it takes on the meaning “hot for the dangerous line that goes around (my) breasts.”

It seems that the contributor actually revels in being groped by males while aboard a jism-packed rush-hour train. Read more

Roppongi gets tough on street touts

May 28, 2009

Following reports of illegal activities at clubs in Tokyo’s entertainment district of Roppongi, local officials are now instituting measures to crack down on the street touts who roam the area each evening in search of customers, according to the Sankei Shimbun (May 26).

About 180 people from local patrol committees and crime-prevention groups gathered on May 25 for what was called the “Roppongi Clean Town Rise to Action Meeting.” The event, which promoted safety and enjoyment in the area, was led by the Metropolitan Police Department and the Minato Ward municipal government.

The group is targeting the solicitors who incessantly promote their clubs to passersby. Recent complaints have been filed by foreigners who have been aggressively accosted on the sidewalk and had excessive charges placed upon their credit cards — some of the latter occurring after incidents of drink-spiking. Based on these reports, the U.S. Embassy issued a warning to Americans on March 17. Read more

‘Giant Torayan’ on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo

May 27, 2009

Giant TorayanTOKYO (TR) – “Giant Torayan,” sculptor Kenji Yanobe’s 7.2-meter-tall robot that emits flames from its mouth, is on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo until August 2 — a chance for visitors to see this symbol of the challenging and difficult times at present, says curator Hiroko Kato.

With a baby’s face, the aluminum, steel, brass, and Styrofoam creature features an on-command, activation device that differentiates the voices of adults and children, the only people to whom it will respond. “Giant Torayan dances and sings, just like children,” she explains. “Yet by also spitting flames, it also symbolizes the never ending loop of destruction and creation that exists in our society.”

Yanobe’s works often include robots or other creations of industrial design. In fact, Giant Torayan is accompanied by a number of miniature figures in brightly colored protective suits affixed with Geiger counters — ostensibly the life of children in a post-nuclear world. Read more

Cops throw the book at dumpers of dirty DVDs

Nikkan Gendai May 27A 47-year-old public servant in Mie Prefecture has found himself in big trouble, reports Nikkan Gendai (May 27). It seems he’d decided it was time to get rid of his bulky collection of 284 pornographic mags and 53 adult videos, weighing about 150 kilograms in total.

“Around 10:30 p.m. on the night of March 18, he drove to Uda City (in neighboring Nara Prefecture) and discarded the items by flinging them over a guard rail into a rice paddy,” a police source tells the newspaper. “Since some of the videos still carried labels with the name of the shop where they were purchased — which rents in addition to sells — we were able to pore through their customer records and trace him.”

The man, an employee of Nabari City in Mie, was summoned to the police station and placed under arrest on May 25 for the illegal dumping of waste. Read more

Kansai sex businesses taking flu scare in stride

May 26, 2009

Shukan Post June 5With the swine influenza infections threatening to run rampant in Kansai, the Fukuhara soapland district in Kobe has taken on the appearance of a ghost town over the past couple of weeks.

The manager of one establishment tells Shukan Post (June 5) his business is down by around 70 percent.

“Our girls all wear surgical masks on their commute to work, and we’ve installed air purifiers in all the massage rooms,” he says. “But the customers seem a bit anxious about catching a bug. We’ve had a case where a masseuse coughed once and the customer immediately demanded he be assigned a different girl.”

Other customers, however, have found the slack period has its advantages.

“If you go now, it’s easier to reserve more popular girls who are usually harder to get,” the regular patron at one shop grins. Read more

Slapdash sanitation brings naked sushi shop to a sickening stop

May 25, 2009

Nikkan Gendai May 23The consumption of morsels of sushi from atop a naked female’s stomach is referred to as nyotaimori.

There’s been some skepticism as to whether such dining facilities actually exist in this day and age. Well, at least one did. According to Nikkan Gendai (May 23), it opened for business in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho entertainment district in June 1998, and immediately caused a stir.

Unfortunately a bit too much of the stirring took place in customers’ hiatal sphincters and lower bowels, as it seems such dauntless dining demands a cast-iron constitution. Read more

Yen wages a big attraction for Asian hookers

Shukan Jitsuwa June 4In early May, police in South Korea arrested several male suspects on suspicion of abetting prostitution by a minor.

As reported by Shukan Jitsuwa (June 4), the men had been running prominent advertisements aimed at young women, saying they could earn “big money” during short-term visits abroad.

The men supplied a 17-year-old South Korean high school student with a forged passport. They subsequently confessed to police that they had been paid 6.5 million Korean won for “recruiting” the girl — the equivalent of 550,000 Japanese yen — to work at a sex shop in Chiba City.

Earlier police had cracked down on several Korean “honban esute” in Saitama and Gunma prefectures. The girls working in the shops are said to be younger and prettier than ever.

From this it is clear that the drastic decline in value of the Korean won currency vis-à-vis the Japanese yen is proving an irresistible magnet to sex workers from that country. Read more

Mench hopes teammate’s bat is ticket back to lineup

May 22, 2009

Hanshin Tigers’ outfielder Kevin Mench, recently sent back to the team’s farm system for lackluster performance (his second trip), is said to be ordering a new bat to find a way to break out from his extended slump, reports Daily Sports (May 20).

During a practice session at the Naruohama Ball Park, Mench found that he liked the grip and feel of a bat used by a teammate, catcher Akihiro Yano. He has ordered the manufacturer (Mizuno) to fabricate the same model, which has a thicker contact area than his current stick. The bat should arrive by the end of May.

Mench has been using a model that weighs 850g, but this new model is 20g heavier. Further, his current bat has its weight towards the grip, limiting its head speed and not allowing his power to be applied optimally. It is hoped that he will experience a drastic turnaround at the plate in spite of his slow start — one in which he has hit .148 with no home runs over 15 games. Read more

Kusanagi’s naked romp and arrest now a virtual tour

May 21, 2009

Shukan Post May 22Now dubbed “The Incident,” the nude romp and subsequent arrest on April 23 of SMAP’s Tsuyoshi Kusanagi continues to be replayed at a Tokyo park by fans of the J-pop group, reports Shukan Post (May 22).

Hinokicho Park, located within the Tokyo Midtown complex where the pop-star lives, has become a hot tourist spot. A housewife in her 40s, who resides in a building facing the park, says, “This is the first time I have seen so many people in the park in the five years I have lived here. There have been a few young people with their tops off and screaming “Shingo! Shingo!” or “What’s wrong with being naked?” to imitate Tsuyoshi on the night of the incident.”

In spite of the charges for public indecency having been dropped and his return to showbiz scheduled for May 28 his fans seemingly can’t get enough. Read more

Stingy sex shops striving to cut expenses to the bone

May 21, 2009

Nikkan GendaiA famous anecdote concerning Scotsmen’s supposed propensity for parsimony involves a trooper in the Scots Guards who brings a single used condom into his local apothecary to request that it be recapped.

“Me and the lads in the regiment took up a collection,” goes the punch line.

But at Nikkan Gendai (May 21), nobody’s laughing. Sex shops, which in these hard times are determined to economize on every extra yen, have begun recycling condoms, it insists.

“We use condoms for blow-jobs or anal sex,” says Akina, 23, a worker at a Tokyo image club. “Instead of discarding them, the manager recycles them. Read more
