YOKOHAMA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a 43-year-old man who is alleged to have pushed his girlfriend into Yokohama Bay, reports TV Asahi (May 31).

On Monday at approximately 11:00 a.m., Yasuo Seki allegedly tossed his girlfriend, 55, into the water from behind a fence at Yamashita Park in Naka Ward.

Seki reported the incident to a nearby convenience store. A boat arriving at the scene later rescued the woman, who was unharmed.

Seki, who has been charged with attempted murder, admits to the allegations. “I pushed her into the water to kill her,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Just prior to the incident, the couple had been drinking in the park. Police are now investigating a motive for the crime.
