Osaka cops: Serial rapist guesses number of victims ‘around 100’

OSAKA (TR) – A 31-year-old man under prosecution in a series of sexual assaults dating back three years speculates that the total number of victims is “around 100,” Osaka police revealed on Monday, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Mar. 6).

According to the indictment, Masaki Sato allegedly sexually assaulted six women on roads in the eastern part of the prefecture between May of 2014 and April of last year.

Sato has been charged with rape resulting in injury and indecent assault. “In order to satisfy my sexual desire, I did it to around 100 women,” the suspect is quoted by the Yao Police Station.

According to police, the suspect used to a motorcycle to target the victims, aged between early teens and early 20s, who were riding a bicycle or walking. After stopping the victims, he forcibly took them to a parking lot or other deserted area to fondle their bodies and sexually assault them. “If you make a sound, I’ll kill you,” he told the victims.

He also photographed the victims with his mobile phone. “If you tell anyone, I’ll spread [the photograph] around,” he threatened.

According to the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 6), some of the victims have suffered emotional trauma since being assaulted by Sato.
