OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police early Friday arrested a 54-year-old Korean national in the killing of a co-worker inside a company dormitory for bag maker Imai in Higashiosaka City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (July 1).
At approximately 3:35 a.m., police received a call from a person saying that he had just “killed the boss.” Police arriving at a first-floor room of the dormitory, located in the Nagatanaka area, found Fukuichi Miyoshi, a 61-year-old factory head, lying in a pool of blood atop a bed.
Police then arrested Kim Yong-bok, a subordinate employee, on charges of attempted murder.
According to officers from the Fuse Police Station, Kim beat Miyoshi in the head repeatedly with a hammer at around 2:50 a.m. as the victim watched television from his bed.
“We had some trouble,” the suspect is quoted by police. “With dissatisfaction at work, I wanted to kill him.”
Police are now examining whether to change the charges to murder.
