TOCHIGI (TR) – Police in Utsunomiya City have arrested a 36-year-old woman for allegedly attempting to murder a male relative by thrusting a chainsaw into his stomach, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 3).
On Sunday, Nozomi Nagata, whose address is unknown, allegedly attacked the victim, a man in his 60s, with a small chainsaw in a parking lot in the city’s Izumicho area.
The victim suffered cuts to his abdomen and right arm but is believed to have escaped with minor injuries. He managed to contact the police himself following the assault.
Nagata remained at the scene after the attack and was arrested in the act for attempted murder by arriving officers. The area was clear of bystanders, and no police officers were injured during the arrest.
Upon being taken into custody, Nagata remained tight-lipped regarding her motive. “I don’t want to say anything,” she told investigators.
Police are currently looking into the detailed circumstances that led to the violent dispute.
