WAKAYAMA (TR) – Wakayama Prefectural Police have issued a disciplinary reprimand to a male police superintendent in his 50s for stalking a fellow police employee over a period of more than a year, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun ().
According to police, the senior officer, who was attached to the prefectural police headquarters, repeatedly engaged in stalking behavior against the colleague within the prefecture over a 14-month period between May and July of the following year.
The official disciplinary action was handed down on July 31. The gender of the victim has not been disclosed.
In a bid to prevent the victim from being identified, authorities have remained tight-lipped regarding further details of the scandal. A police spokesperson stated they “cannot answer” questions regarding which specific department the superintendent belonged to, nor would they confirm whether the disgraced officer is still currently employed by the force.
