TOKYO (TR) – The bodies of two men in their 50s were found inside a unit of metropolitan apartment building in Adachi Ward on Saturday, reports TV Asahi (Jan. 25).
A little after noon, a male resident of the building, located in Nishihokima, called police. “About a week’s worth of newspapers have piled up in the mailbox of a nearby unit,” the caller said.
When police officers arrived, they found two men dead in the unit. One man had hung himself with a rope tied to a metal fitting near the entrance. The other was found dead lying on his back in the living room.
According to police, the occupants of the unit are two brothers, aged 50 and 52, both of whom have dropped out of contact.
There were no visible injuries on the bodies of either man. The entrance and windows of the unit were both locked at the time of police arrival.
In addition to confirming the identities of the two men, police are also investigating the circumstances of their deaths.
