SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested an Indian male for attempting to slash a police officer who was attempting to apprehend him over the alleged molestation of a woman.

At around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Mohammed Sadam, 21, allegedly used a 17-centimeter knife to slash at the neck of the officer, 42, on a street in Kawagoe City, Nippon News Network reports (Dec. 17).

The officer, who was uninjured, was on patrol when Sadam allegedly molested a woman in her 20s, police said.

Sadam, who has been charged with indecent assault and attempted murder, partially admits to the allegations. “There’s no question I touched her body, but I did not slash at the officer,” the suspect is quoted by police.
