TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are hunting for a knife-wielding mugger who ambushed and robbed a woman on a street in Musashino City on Sunday, reports TV Asahi (Aug. 31).
Shortly after 6:00 p.m., the victim, a woman in her 30s, was walking in the Kyonancho area when the assailant suddenly stepped directly into her path.
According to police, the man brandished a knife-like object at the woman and warned, “Please don’t make a fuss.” He then forcibly snatched her tote bag, which contained cash and a smartphone, before fleeing the scene.
The victim immediately called 110 to report the robbery.
The suspect remains at large, and the MPD is actively tracking his whereabouts. Police describe the assailant as a man in his 20s or 30s, measuring approximately 170 centimeters tall with black hair. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a navy blue hoodie.
