Inmate found hanged in Hyogo prison in apparent suicide

HYOGO (TR) – A male inmate at a prison in Kakogawa City was found hanged in an apparent suicide on Wednesday, the facility has announced.

At around 5:50 a.m., a staff member of the Harima Reintegration Promotion Center found the inmate, aged in his 30s, hanged from a towel inside his cell.

He was taken to the hospital, but his death was confirmed late that night, reports the Kobe Shimbun (Sep. 18).

A suicide note was found in the cell, suggesting the death was a suicide.

There was nothing unusual about the man when the staff member made a patrol 20 minutes before he was found.
