Indonesian man accused in fatal stabbing of woman in Chiba

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a male Indonesian national in Chitose City for allegedly stabbing a woman in Chitose City on Thursday. The woman later died, reports TV Asahi (June 5).

At around 9:10 p.m., 27-year-old Mahmudi Agung Laksana Aji allegedly used a knife to stab Sri Rahayu, 21, an Indonesian national believed to be an acquaintance of his, in the abdomen on a sidewalk.

Rahayu later died at a hospital where she was taken.

In questioning by police on suspicion of attempted murder, Aji admitted to the charges. He said, “I stabbed her with the intention of killing her.”

According to police, officers who rushed to the scene after receiving a report witnessed Aji stabbing her with a knife.

Another officer who tried to apprehend Aji, as well as an acquaintance of Rahayu, were injured and taken to the hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

The incident took place on a road approximately 2 kilometers northwest of JR Chitose Station.
