Chinese man suspected of slashing colleague with a knife in Chiba

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a male Chinese national for allegedly slashing a female colleague with a knife in Chiba City earlier this month.

According to Fuji News Network (Jan. 20), suspect Jiang Xiuxin, 34, had previously been in a relationship with the victim.

On January 16, Jiang came up from the behind the woman while she was in a break room the logistics center employing both of them and allegedly slashed her with the 18-centimeter-long knife.

The woman suffered injuries to her head and neck. However, her life is not in danger, police said.

On January 18, a camera caught Jiang at the Chiba-Kita Police Station. He has been accused of attempted murder.

During questioning, he partially denied the charges. He said, “It’s true that I stabbed her, but I didn’t intend to kill her.”

As the incident unfolded, a man who was present took the knife away from Jiang. He was taken into custody.
