CHIBA (TR) – A man residing in Chiba City who is suspected in the theft of shoes for students at an elementary school has been found to be in possession of thousands of pairs of such footwear, police have revealed.

On Monday, police accused Noriaki Mitsusawa, a 43-year-old resident of Ichikawa City, of trespassing and theft in the alleged pilfering of 29 pairs of indoor shoes from an elementary school in Nishi Ward of Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture in March of last year.

During a search of his residence, police found about 4,000 pairs of shoes. “I sold between 4,000 and 5,000 pairs as used goods on the internet,” Mitsusawa told police, according to Fuji News Network.
