TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of 25-year-old woman inside her apartment in Nakano Ward, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 27).
At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, police found the naked body of Risa Kagaya, a part-time employee at an izakaya restaurant, collapsed at the entrance of the second-floor apartment. Her face was covered by a towel.
Police said that the body had signs indicating that she had been strangled to death, adding that she had been dead for up to two days.
About two hours before the discovery, Kagaya’s boss called police after she failed to arrive at work and he was unable to contact her at her residence.
One month ago, police had been summoned to the residence late at night following a loud dispute between Kagaya and a man.
Since the doors and windows to the apartment were locked upon the discovery of the body, police are working to determine whether the perpetrator is an acquaintance of the victim.
