TOKYO (TR) – The National Police Agency on Friday announced the dismissal of a 33-year-old Tokyo officer after he was arrested for engaging in sex with underage prostitutes, reports TBS News (Oct. 30).
On February 1, Hiroshi Hoshino, an assistant inspector in the anti-organized crime division, engaged in an illicit encounter with the two girls, both 17-year-old high school students, at a hotel in Musashino City.
He paid 20,000 yen to each girl, whom he met via a smartphone dating application.
Hoshino had a similar encounter with one of the girls in December of last year.
On September 29, he was arrested for violating child pornography and prostitution laws.
Earlier this month, a Tokyo court ordered him to pay a fine of 700,000 yen for the case, according to the Nikkei Shimbun (Oct. 30).
“It is indeed regrettable that a staff member was involved in such an incident,” said a representative of the agency, “but the matter was dealt with in a strict manner.”
Hoshino was transferred to the NPA after serving with the Aichi Prefectural Police in March of last year.
