TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 36-year-old woman for allegedly spraying tear gas at a train station in Shinjuku Ward late last month, reports TBS News (Oct. 1).
On September 28 at around 5:35 p.m., Yumiko Tsukakoshi, a resident of Nerima Ward, is alleged to have sprayed tear gas from a can on a platform of the Seibu Shinjuku Line at Takadanobaba Station.
Nine persons on the platform, aged between 13 and 42, received treatment for light injuries, including sore throats, at a nearby hospital following the incident.
Tsukakoshi, who has been charged with inflicting injury, denies the allegations. “I did not do such a thing,” the suspect is quoted by the Totsuka Police Station. “I did not go to Takadanobaba Station.”
Tsukakoshi became a person of interest for police after an examination of security camera footage.
