TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected in a series of arson incidents at residences in Suginami Ward, reports TV Asahi (Nov. 23).

At around 2:30 a.m. on November 5, Yasutaka Yoshida allegedly set afire the cover of a motorcycle parked at a residence in the Koenji-Kita area.

Yoshida admits to the allegations. “I set the fire without much thought. I intended for it to be a prank,” the suspect is quoted by police.

An examination of security camera footage taken in the area showed Yoshida setting the cover on fire.

Yoshida is suspected in three other incidents that took place around 30 minutes apart in the same general area.
