TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested the 35-year-old company president, who is an active proponent of protecting children from sexual abuse, for allegedly engaging in illicit acts with a teenage girl, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 6).

On September 4, Takayuki Hirakawa, a resident of Saitama Prefecture who heads an educational consulting company, allegedly engaged in obscene acts with the girl, 15, a third-year junior high school student, at a hotel in Tokyo’s Nerima Ward.

Hirakawa, who has been charged with in violating the child prostitution and pornography law, admits to the allegations. “I met her on a social-networking service (Twitter) the day before,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to the NHK (Oct. 6). “I have done this very same thing in the past.”

The girl contacted police after the suspect did not pay the girl the 40,000 yen he had promised and fled the scene after they walked outside the hotel.

Hirakawa has visited schools to participate in events that seek to protect children from sex crimes. He has also offered similar advice via frequent posts on the internet.
