TOKUSHIMA (TR) – Tokushima Prefectural Police are investigating the deaths of two women who were struck by a train at a crossing in the town of Ishii, reports Nippon News Network (July 17).
At approximately 8:57 p.m., the two women passed beyond a crossing gate and into the path of a JR Tokushima Line limited express train near Ishii Station.
Police have not yet identified the victims, though one is believed to be aged in her 30s and the other in her 40s. Each was wearing a t-shirt and shorts at the time of the incident.
None of the 21 persons on the train were injured in the incident.
Police are treating the case as the result of an accident or suicide.
