Officers from the Ohito Police Station charged Masaru Iwata, a 28-year-old temporary assistant to the city assembly, with violating child pornography and prostitution laws.
On August 8, Iwata is alleged to have given two packages of cigarettes to the girl, 17, in exchange for engaging in a sex act while parked in his car in a mountainous area of the prefecture.
The pair reportedly got to know one another on networking site Twitter at the end of July.
