CHIBA (TR) – A former police officer accused of serial rape and robbery pleaded guilty to the majority of the charges at the opening of his trial at the Chiba District Court on Monday, reports Sankei Sports (Mar. 7).

Naohiro Hayashi, a 37-year-old former head patrol officer at the Ueno Police Station in Tokyo, has admitted to trespassing into the women’s residences committing rape and robbery on multiple occasions over a one-year period ending in October of 2014.

The defendant, however, denies threatening to kill his victims.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on June 16, 2014, Hayashi robbed a 23-year-old woman of cash at knife-point inside her residence in Matsudo City. In other cases, the defendant posed a delivery man and utilized a stun gun in committing the crimes. In addition to stealing cash, he also stole uniforms and women’s underwear.

“The physical and mental strain endured by the victims is large,” said the prosecution in its opening statement.
